Airlie Beach

Getting here is easy. You can come by road, coach, rail or by air.

Pack light natural fibre clothing for your casual tropical holiday. Bring your swimmers and a towel, a wrap for an island or beach visit and a windcheater for sailing or the slightly cooler nights of our tropical winter. Something a little more “dressy” will be useful for the evenings, but the mood is still casual. Your “must bring” kit should include sunscreen, a wide brimmed hat and sand shoes or sneakers for walking on coral beaches.

Our Location

Situated in tropical north Queensland, only a one and a half hour flight north of Brisbane and located centrally on the magnificent Great Barrier Reef.

The region encompasses the quaint town of Proserpine to the south and Bowen to the north. Shute Harbour is a short drive from Airlie Beach and of course, you are only a boat ride away from many of  the tropical islands the Whitsundays are renowned for.

Nothing surpasses the absolute beauty and magnificence of the Great Barrier Reef. Inscribed on the World Heritage List, the reef is a vast array of complex coral, stretching almost 2,500 kms along Queensland’s continental shelf.

Visit famous Whitehaven Beach with its 7km stretch of white silica sand and play in the turquoise crystal clear waters.

The Whitsundays is home to one of the worlds oldest continually surviving rainforests. The Conway and Dryander National Parks along with the State forests provide shelter to some of Australia’s unique flora and fauna, including the Proserpine Rock Wallaby, ferns, orchids and enormous hardwoods.

There are a multitude of water activities to take part in, including sailing and kayaking your way around the Whitsundays. Whether it is snorkeling, swimming or sailing across the beautiful blue ocean, the Whitsundays are for you.

How to get here?

Getting to the Whitsundays is no problem. There are two main airports, Whitsunday Coast Airport located just south of Proserpine and Hamilton Island, with regular flights from Qantas, Jetstar and Virgin Airlines.

If flying into Hamilton Island, enjoy a serene ferry ride straight to the Port of Airlie on the mainland.

There is fast, comfortable coach access as well as the revolutionary new Tilt Train stopping at Proserpine. For those that are driving, the roads leading into the Whitsundays are excellent and the scenery is beautiful.

Sea Star Apartments are located a short 40 minute drive from Proserpine airport and only 20 minutes drive from Shute Harbour. We are a 10 minute walk down to the Airlie township and lagoon pool and 15 minutes walk along the boardwalk to the Coral Sea Marina which offers many lovely restaurants and cafes to visit.
